New Vanquish Hybrid Will Churn Out Over 830 HP
Aston Martin announced it will be reviving its iconic Vanquish nameplate in 2019. Details regarding the next-generation supercar have since been scant, but we now have some solid new info about the factory.
The sleek, average, mid-engined engine, which sits below the Valhalla and Valkyrie in the Aston Martin range, was originally supposed to be powered by an internal 4.0-liter V-6. But it seems that plans have changed. It will now be equipped with a menacing Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V-8, like its two high-powered siblings, reports Autocar. (Aston Martin did not immediately respond to Robb Report’s request for comment regarding the powertrain.)
The hardcore V-8 Valhalla is from the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, while the V-8 Vanquish will likely be in the same vein as the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance. But it’s nothing to sneeze at. The combustion engine is said to produce around 630 hp.
The V-8 will be at the heart of the new plug-in hybrid setup which will also consist of an electric motor. Overall, you can expect a total output of 831 horses in the new 2023 Aston Martin Vanquish. In comparison, the Valhalla is good for 937 hp while the Valkyrie makes a staggering 1,160 horses.
The company has confirmed hybridization across all of its platforms by 2025. The new hybrid, which certainly rivals today’s strongest supercars for immediate potential, will compete with the Ferrari 296 GTB and McLaren Artura.
Aston Martin will also be competing against itself. The road-ready 2023 Aston Martin Vanquish will likely race a track-specific twin geared towards the one-brand global racing series. Who knows, more horsepower could be on the cards.
The grinding may not be the only change to the 2023 Aston Martin Vanquish, either. Aston Martin chairman Lawrence Stroll told Autocar that the model will likely get a new name in place of the Vanquish Vision. Additionally, the current bodywork may need to be altered to accommodate the larger engine.
Unfortunately, it will be a while until we see the finished product. The official reveal of The Vanquish is slated to take place late next year, with customer delivery slated for 2025.

C&D admits that with the new mid-engine layout, the writers didn’t know what to expect from the interior of the new Vanquish. It says the cabin could be more spacious than its hypercar group and is likely open to customization given its luxurious nature.
It may also retain some of the same features of the previous model, but by the time it is produced, we could see advancements in the company’s infotainment technology better suited to the next generation of supercars.

Infotainment and Connectivity
We can only speculate about the infotainment system that might be inside the 2023 Aston Martin Vanquish. While it could be similar to the setup found on the Vantage sports car, which boasts an 8.0 touchscreen controlled mainly by the rotary knob on the center console, we think the interface may be more sophisticated when the Vanquish goes on sale.
If the Valhalla’s infotainment system—or lack thereof—is any indication, Aston may start to focus more on the driving experience and less on the built-in touchscreen and mainstream connectivity features.
2023 Aston Martin Vanquish Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Aston Martin will likely install an AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 into the Vanquish, and it will be paired with two electric motors to form a plug-in-hybrid powertrain. That’s a change from the 3.0-liter V-6 hybrid that the company originally planned to build in-house.
While the Vanquish will have a version of the same powertrain found in the Valhalla, we think it’s unlikely to produce the same 937 horsepower. There may even be a possibility that Aston offers an all-electric version of the Vanquish.
Either way, we hope to feature a bonded aluminum spaceframe rather than the carbon fiber tub that will be used on the company’s hypercars. The lack of aggressive aerodynamic technology that adorns the concept suggests this Aston will be a grand tourer rather than its much more expensive track-focused sibling.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Aston currently offers some driver assistance technology on some of its models, such as the Vantage sports car. That suggests the Vanquish could be available with safety features that include a 360-degree camera system and blind spot monitoring.

We suspect the next-gen Vanquish will retail for around $300,000 when it finally goes on sale. That’s a far cry from the seven-figure price tag that would be attached to Aston’s mid-engine hypercars, but it’s still out of the reach of most enthusiasts. While we can’t say for sure, there’s a good chance the next Vanquish could have a roofless version to compete with the retractable roof models offered by rivals like the 720S.
