2023 Acura ILX has remained largely the same since save for a few visual and tech tweaks here and there. While it’s too late for a redesign, we expect the Acura ILX 2023 to be a carryover model.
When the ILX debuted in 2013, it was a style taken from the tired compact luxury sedan segment. Although Acura made some minor visual adjustments over the years, it has become outdated compared to the competition.
Acura will discontinue sales of the ILX after the 2022 model year. As a result, there will be no 2023 Acura ILX in the United States. Fortunately, entry-level luxury car buyers will have a new option to consider in the form of the 2023 Acura Integra, a new four-door coupe sedan comparable to the Honda Civic Si.
The first ILX generation debuted in 2013 and underwent minor changes over the years. Most significantly comes with the restyled 2019 Acura ILX, which adopts a new front grille similar to the larger TLX. Now that the ILX has been discontinued, car buyers will have a choice between the reborn Integra and the TLX.
2023 Acura ILX Review
While there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding the revival of the Integra nameplate, there’s been speculation about what will happen to Acura’s current base model sedan, the 2023 Acura ILX. Now Acura has confirmed in an interview with Motor1 that the ILX will finish production with the 2023 model year and be discontinued outright as a result of the inclusion of Integra.
Functionally for buyers, this means the latest offerings at the bottom of Acura’s line will be much fresher. The ILX currently offers a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated inline-four that comes from the same lineage as the ninth-generation Civic Si powerplant, which was a larger displacement version of the 2.0-liter K-series motor originally introduced in the Honda Civic S of 2011. 2001. In addition, the current ILX powerplant is exclusively paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Integra, by comparison, will share a 1.5-liter turbocharged four with the new eleventh-generation Civic and is confirmed to offer a six-speed manual transmission. While no one has had the chance to drive the new Integra yet, our own Kristen Lee had the opportunity to test the new Civic Si with the same drivetrain and review it very well, so it’s reasonable to expect the Integra will provide a pleasant driving experience where the ILX doesn’t.
Despite the fresher platform that Integra is built on, we don’t expect much of a price hike over ILX’s current MSRP. The ILX’s base price comes in at $28,345, and while pricing isn’t confirmed for the Integra, Acura has confirmed it will be around $30,000.
Also, although the latest Integra loses nearly a liter of displacement over the current 2023 Acura ILX, the power is roughly the same, as the ILX is rated at 201 hp, and the 1.5-liter turbo-four already pushes out 200 hp in the latest model. Civil Si.

While the 2023 Acura ILX did provide a cost-effective way to get into luxury vehicles, it didn’t really catch on for many years. In fact, according to Good Car Bad Car, Acura could barely sell nearly 20,000 ILXs annually from 2014 to 2021. Lexus, on the other hand, was able to sell more than double the number of IS sedans during that time, which is ILX’s main competitor.
Older car technology can be blamed as the 2023 Acura ILX is based on the ninth-generation Civic. In fact, the current 2021 iteration still uses the 2.4-liter engine found in the ninth-generation Civic Si compared to the turbocharged engines you’ll find in the current Civic. It’s worth bearing in mind that the Civic is currently in its 11th generation, so ILX will clearly have to catch up.
That obsolescence leaked into the car’s technology as the 2023 Acura ILX still uses a dual-screen infotainment setup that uses Acura’s older navigation system and dash design. It looked cool in 2015, but in 2022, it’s not going to fly. It used to also be available with a six-speed manual transmission, but Acura dropped it along the way.
Admittedly, it may take the general public to understand the all-new Integra. After all, we’ve only seen her in prototype form complete with a tacky yellow paint job and “Integra” stickers. But let’s take a break, it could be better than we all think.
From what we know so far, the Integra will offer the same turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that you can find in the current Civic, so it’s at least updated in that department. However, Acura hasn’t said whether the engine will have the same power output as the regular 2022 Civic or the new Civic Si. We hope it’s the latter, especially since the entry-level sedan will actually have an optional six-speed manual transmission.
For now, we’ll be devoting one to honor ILX. It was a good sedan while it lasted and could be a bargain on the used market in the future. Thank you Acura ILX, you are awesome.
2023 Acura ILX Redesign
Acura ILX Redesign 2023 The current Acura ILX continues to pick through the parts of the last-generation Civic Si with a 2.4-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine that produces 201 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque.
The only shining star in this powertrain is the standard eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that delivers sharp gearshifts and maximizes that power. We expect this powertrain to remain the same in the Acura ILX 2023.
Despite its age, Acura continues to update the 2023 Acura ILX in the safety department with standard adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking, which received an IIHS “Superior” rating. Buyers can upgrade to the Premium Plan and get a blind-spot monitor too. We hope these safety features remain the same in the ILX 2023.
Structurally, the ILX currently receives a “Good” rating in every crash test conducted by IIHS, but the headlights with a “Poor” rating and several missing crash tests disqualify it from Top Safety Pick status. We expect this rating to remain the same in ILX 2023.
2023 Acura ILX Specs
The 2023 Acura Integra offers one powertrain option across all trim levels. It’s a 200-horsepower, four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbo engine. Most trim levels pair this engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission, but the top trim levels give you the option of a six-speed manual transmission.
The 2022 Acura ILX, on the other hand, has a 201 horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It is paired with front-wheel drive and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
2023 Acura ILX Design
The 2023 Acura Integra and the 2022 Acura ILX are easy to tell apart on the road. The Integra has a flowing look with a rounded nose and sculpted roofline. The front end comes to a sharp point above the pentagonal grille. The Integra’s headlamps are slightly angled with the LED light bands zigzagging horizontally. The sides have slanted accents with slightly defined fenders.
The ILX, on the other hand, has a more curved hood with a strong angle through the hood. The grille is comparable to Integra’s grille. The slanted headlights widen slightly. They feature a row of light bulbs underlined by an LED light bar. The site has a lower body accentuation.

2023 Acura ILX unveiled the 2021 TLX and a sportier Type S variant that promises considerable power, in an apparent attempt to sharpen its lineup.
Now, a leaked Acura dealer webinar has revealed that the TLX and NSX supercars won’t be the only edges sporting the “A” badge the document shows that, until 2023, Acura has big plans for maintenance and the Type S lineup as a whole.
One that stands out? The new compact sedan, which will offer a sporty Type S trim, drifts towards the “2023” side of the chart.
At this point, our guess is as good as yours as to what the new sedan will look like when it arrives as a late 2021 or 2023 model. Our assumption is that it’s a replacement for the aging Honda Civic-based 2023 ILX, but if so, why isn’t the 2023 Acura ILX calling it an “ILX?” ” in documents such as retaining the MDX name for the redesigned 2021 top three?
Line crossover? (Which, we should point out, will also be offered in the Type S guise when it arrives sometime next year!) So what is this ILX sedan that isn’t as sized as the 2023 ILX? The reincarnation of Integra? That’s cool, but we’re excited that this new generation of compact sedans is planned with the Type S variant.
When MotorTrend contacted 2023 Acura ILX about a leaked product planning chart, here’s what it said:
“We have expressed Acura’s unwavering commitment to Precision Crafted Performance since the launch of the second-generation NSX. While this presentation is intended for 2023 Acura ILX dealers and is not all-encompassing or definitive, it shows that we intend to live up to the brand’s promise. , step by step, starting with TLX 2021.”
