2023 Bugatti Chiron SUV project is gathering momentum and boss Stephan Winkelmann has fine-tuned some more details about the new, taller Bug-type to expand the brand’s slim sports car lineup.
CAR magazine asked the president of Bugatti if there was still a market for very expensive luxury limousines. “Yes, but most customers of this type of car, especially women, want to sit up high so they can see outside,” he told us.
In a separate interview at the Frankfurt motor show, Winkelmann revealed that the new model will likely be a four-seat model with the ability to drive off-road.
All signs point to a taller, crossover-influenced sports car as the second model – but it’s not a traditional SUV, swears Winkelmann.
Our artist impression, by Andrei Avarvarii (gallery at top of page), illustrates how the Bugatti CUV (coupe utility vehicle) can look. It’s virgin white space because the brand has never built a 4×4.
The design team, led by Etienne Salomé, worked hard to maintain the distinctive style DNA of the Chiron and Veyron and translate it into new body styles to satisfy the tastes of the world’s richest car buyers and collectors for the best of four-wheeled transportation.
CAR magazine has reported separate plans for a new Royale electric limousine based on the group’s EV hardware from the Porsche Taycan, but Molsheim now prefers the taller, more family-friendly Bugatti.
Winkelmann started the Urus SUV project while at Lamborghini, but he is on record stating ‘there will be no SUV from Bugatti’. Fair enough – but it does not rule out a sporty crossover with a higher seat position than the saloon, with a lower body and less boxy than a traditional SUV.
President Bugatti has given a price tag of around $ 1 million (£ 800,000) and admits he will consider a hybrid drivetrain for a variety of new additional models. He also ruled out an electric version of the Chiron, stating that “there is still plenty of time for an internal combustion engine.”
The idea is for a sexy two-door crossover, more compact than the Urus (below) and, crucially, much lighter. It will share a few components with the big Lambo, including the 641bhp V8, but with some serious hybridization to produce an output close to four figures.
“The new car will be the biggest and most expensive car in its sector,” said Winkelmann. ‘But it’s not the most expensive or extreme Bugatti. Chiron will always be on top. ‘
As a result, the yet-to-be-named Bugatti crossover has to outperform the Urus’s incredible performance, which hit 0-62mph in 3.6sec and v-maxes at 191mph.
Bugatti may need to leverage the group’s network of factories to assemble the model, tipping up to 800 units per year from 2023, although it is believed he wants to complete some levels of completion in Molsheim, the company’s French spiritual home. It’s a far cry from a single 16-cylinder hypercar and an obsession with top speed.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Review
As a follow-up to the legendary Veyron, the Chiron 2021 takes the legacy of its predecessors’ branding and performance and combines them into one stunning – and capable – engine.
Chiron’s nearly $ 3 million price tag fits his extreme personality, but even for that kind of money, it’s almost a performance offer. It’s powered by a massive 16-cylinder engine which is a modern engineering marvel, capable of propelling this hypercar up to 300 mph and more.
Time-changing performance aside, the Chiron looks like no other on the road – except maybe the Veyron – and the interior is upholstered in fine materials that match its price tag.
No, this beauty doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay or semi-autonomous driving modes but really, who cares? The Chiron isn’t weighed down by the same expectations and practical requirements as a Lamborghini or McLaren – allowing it to be an all-auto halo car.
Bugatti added the Pur Sport model to the Chiron lineup for 2021. The focused finish in this treatment will return buyers $ 3.6 million, but it offers suspension upgrades, a lower weight of 110 pounds, and a rear spoiler that provides extra power down. For Sport is a limited edition model and only 60 were produced.
Which Bugatti is The Fastest
The Bugatti Chiron is officially the fastest supercar in the world – and by quite a long shot, too. Top Gear broke the news on Monday, confirming Bugatti test driver Andy Wallace hit a v-max of 304.77 miles per hour on Volkswagen Group’s Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany.

2023 Bugatti Chiron GT
Which supercar fan doesn’t dream of having one or two Bugatti units lined up neatly in his garage? Unfortunately, the exclusivity of the French super ride is too far from the reach of the budget that most of their fans can afford.
However, this is not the case for the Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Badr bin Saud, who is recently known to have proposed two Bugatti units to his supercar collection.
But make no mistake, what Prince bought with an estimated wealth of around the US $ 21 billion or more than Rp 274 trillion is not an ordinary Bugatti model.
But the Bugatti Chiron that was used by World Premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and the phenomenal concept of the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo which is present as a life-version concept of one of the favorite racecars in the latest game ‘Gran Turismo Sport.
Price? Although the official Bugatti did not give a leak, the official price of these two special cars is clearly ‘slightly’ higher than the price per unit of the standard Chiron in the market which is pegged at $ 2.6 million or around Rp.34 billion.
2023 Bugatti Chiron HP
All 2023 Bugatti Chiron models are powered by an 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine. This engine uses four turbochargers to produce 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 kg of torque.
Bugatti claims that the Chiron goes from zero to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 261 mph. If the standard Chiron engine doesn’t satisfy your thirst for speed, hop on the Chiron Super Sport 300+.
This model is equipped with a slightly more powerful version of the base power generator and produces 1,578 horsepower.
Piloted by factory test driver Andy Wallace, a model with specs nearly identical to the Chiron Super Sport 300+ set a trial run record of 304,773 mph. With every model in the Chiron lineup, power is delivered to all four wheels with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

2023 Bugatti Chiron MPG
As expected from a car with a 1500-hp engine, the Chiron won’t win any points for being environmentally friendly. According to the EPA, the Chiron 2021 achieves a range (we hesitate to use the word “fuel economy”) of up to 9 mpg city and 14 mpg highway.
Pur Sport sees both numbers drop by 1 mpg. We haven’t run the 2023 Bugatti Chiron on our 75 mph highway fuel-efficient route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, so we can’t evaluate mpg in the real world.
How Fast Does A Bugatti Go From 0 to 60
The Veyron Super Sport goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and at the time of its launch, it was the fastest supercar on the market. The Veyron also set a top speed record.
2023 Bugatti Chiron SS
Unlike the prototype, the production version will have a passenger seat. This is it, friends. Just as the record-breaking Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was soon followed by the World Records Edition, the Chiron “Longtail” evolved into the Super Sport 300+.
Similar to the previous prototype, the production car will have a menacing body with exposed carbon fiber and orange stripes similar to the Veyron SS WRE. If you don’t like it, the talented guys from Molsheim will be happy to apply another color.
Reflecting the prototype and the Centodieci, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ will use an evolution from the 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine producing 1,578 horsepower.
You won’t find roll cages and computer assemblies and timing equipment in highway models as the 30 vehicles planned for production will work without additional hardware. In exchange, Bugatti will return passenger seats that the prototype does not have.
While the car driven by Andy Wallace sits closer to the road during a stunning 304.77-mph run on the Volkswagen Group’s Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany, the 2023 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ will adopt a standard ride height to make it easier to live.
in the usual way. Perhaps the most important change is the adoption of a speed limiter, with Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann telling Motor1.com that the customer-spec car will hit 440 kph (273 mph).
2023 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport
Interestingly, Top Gear has it at the authority of which buyers will be able to add a roll cage and remove the speed limiter to try and emulate the Longtail’s performance.
Where can an owner reach 304,773 mph (490,484 kph) without being thrown into prison immediately? In the same Ehra-Lessien. Yes, the Bugatti will give customers access to tracks where there is a straight 5.4 miles (8.7 km). Talk about an interesting turn of events.
It will cost you € 3.5 million (nearly $ 3.9 million at current exchange rates) to access the VW Group’s evidence booth in Lower Saxony and Bugatti will enter the car for free. Production begins in 2021.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Top Speed
2023 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport In 2005, Bugatti rocked the supercar world with the Veyron, a supercar that produces nearly 1,000 horsepower and reaches a top speed of over 250 mph.
In 2010, Bugatti took over with the Veyron Super Sport, which developed 1,183 horsepower and set a new world record at 257.87 mph and capable of 267.85 mph with the speed limiter removed.
Six years have passed since then, and the Bugatti has replaced the Veyron with the Chiron, a much more powerful vehicle aimed at setting new world records.
While the French company hasn’t tried the new benchmarks since May 2016, we think Bugatti is considering an even more extreme Chiron. It will be dubbed the Chiron Super Sport (SS) and will of course act as the successor to the mighty Veyron SS.
Although not yet confirmed by the Molsheim-based brand, the SS will arrive sometime in 2020 for the 2021 model year. The wait is long for us supercars to be crazy, but Bugatti needs time to further develop the W-16 engine as well as tweak the new Chiron chassis.
This also gives us time to speculate on what the Chiron SS will bring to the table and analyze the renderings made by our expert artists for this article.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Exterior
Like its predecessors, the 2023 Bugatti Chiron SuperSport will feature several design improvements, most of which are designed to improve the car’s aerodynamics.
However, while the Veyron SS is not that different from the standard Veyron, the Chiron SS will likely use a more radical body kit compared to the regular Chiron.
That’s mainly because the Bugatti may not be able to produce too much power from the already strengthened W-16 engine and a more aerodynamic body can help improve the Chiron’s acceleration and speed.
Up front, we expect the Chiron SS to get a bigger splitter, motorsport-inspired canards at the corners, and a ventilated hood. These three elements must increase downforce and help channel air more efficiently throughout the body.
On the sides, look for lighter wheels, carbon fiber, and stockier side skirts. Everything else should remain unchanged in this area visually, but Bugatti will most likely increase the vertical side vents to improve engine cooling. In addition, the supercar will also get a roof scoop.
Bigger changes had to be put into operation at the rear, with the biggest upgrade being a large, race-inspired wing. This will be a first for a modern Bugattis and a device that could make a huge difference to 2023 Bugatti Chiron aerodynamics.
The wings will be supported by a revised diffuser that will extend to the rear wheels, a ventilated hood, and a revised exhaust outlet.
Overall, the Chiron SS should be wild enough to behold and very different from the record-setting Veyron SS.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Engine
It’s safe to assume that the Chiron SS will get its juice from the same 8.0-liter W-16 that the Bugatti has been using since 2005, but it remains to be seen how much power the company’s engineers will have managed to extract from it.
The Veyron SS receives a 184-horsepower increase compared to the standard model for a total output of 1,184 horsepower, so it’s fair to assume that the Chiron SS could arrive with 1,600+ horsepower versus the Chiron’s 1,479 horsepower rating.
However, that may be easier said than done because a significantly more powerful engine will modify several parameters and require heavily revised components.
With that in mind, we’d expect Bugatti to increase the W-16’s output to just around 1,500 to 1,550 horses. And, while that doesn’t sound like much, it will be enough to make the Chiron SS even faster in conjunction with the new aerodynamic kit.
The 2023 Bugatti Chiron is said to hit 62 mph in “less than 2.5 seconds,” so we don’t have actual figures to work with, but the SS will probably be a tenth of a second faster. Arguably more important is top speed. While the 2023 Bugatti Chiron is expected to set a new world record at 261 mph, the SS will have to beat that and get close to the 271 mph mark.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Price
It’s too early to talk about prices, but SS will likely be the most expensive 2023 Bugatti Chiron. With a regular supercar priced from € 2.4 million (approximately $ 2.73 million) and a Grand Sport rumored to be likely to make at least € 2.8 million ($ 3.18 million), the Super Sport can cost over € 3. , 5 million (nearly $ 4 million).
SS will also be produced in very limited numbers, perhaps only 30 units required for the validation of the Guinness World Record. Bugatti can also launch a World Records edition limited to just five instances as was done with the Veyron SS.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Interior
The Chiron’s exterior features C-shaped design cues carved into the side panels, and this element is also present in the car’s cabin.
This is reflected in the graceful curves of the partition that separates the driver and passengers. Bugatti has dressed the 2023 Bugatti Chiron cabin with the finest materials, and the interior has elements of space-age style that add a unique charm.
The flat-bottomed steering wheel welcomes the driver, and Bugatti claims the shiny center console is made of one piece of solid aluminum. With Chiron, it is best to pack light. Luggage only provides two cubic feet of cargo space.
Chiron’s singular focus on performance brings with it compromises on the infotainment front. This Bugatti functions like a race car and has tech content stripped down to fit.
There’s no infotainment screen, and features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities aren’t offered. Car infotainment facilities are pretty much limited to sound systems and travel computers.
On the plus side, the sound system provides impeccable sound quality and features four tweeters that each use a one-carat diamond membrane for precise output. That’s what you expect from a car that costs millions.
We don’t expect much change in the cabin. The interior of the Chiron SS should be identical to the standard model and include the organic lines that make up the dashboard, center console, and door panels, as well as the large amounts of leather, carbon fiber, and aluminum seen on the 2023 Bugatti Chiron.
Bugatti will probably make some features to help differentiate the SS but look no further than a pair of “SS” badges and a few snippets here and there. With a highly customizable 2023 Bugatti Chiron with almost endless possibilities as far as upholstery, trim, and materials go, each car will remain unique.
2023 Bugatti Chiron Price
People who choose cars like Chiron do so because they want a vehicle that has an amazing impact on the boulevard or in a service parking lot – or front of a casino in Monte Carlo.
With the famous immersion lines and pricing in the stratosphere, the 2023 Bugatti Chiron base fits the bill. We think this model has what it takes to put a smile on the face of even the smartest buyer.
