We suspect the next-generation Vanquish will start at around $ 300,000 when it finally goes on sale. That’s far from the seven-figure price tag that an Aston mid-engine hypercar would put on, but it’s still out of the reach of most fans.
While we can’t be certain, there’s a good chance the next Vanquish could have a roofless version to compete with the retractable roof models offered by rivals such as the 720S.
2023 Aston Martin Vanquish has confirmed that they will no longer be installing AMG sourced engines to Vanquish. Instead, the British carmaker developed its own power plant. While many of the specifications remain top secret, we do know that it will be a new V-6 3.0-liter hybrid that can develop up to 700 horsepower.

With a front-mounted 5.9-liter V12 that only powers the rear wheels, the Vanquish model epitomizes old-school grand tourers rather than the modern output of a cutting-edge sports car.
Yes, a Ferrari F12 might come from a similar recipe, but it has a lot more power and feels more ‘high tech’. You could even argue that Aston’s own DB11 signs that a turbocharged model in the future.
But here’s the thing: some would argue that the modern sports car type isn’t as attractive as the old guard from behind the wheel, so does its classic base really pass on an extra dimension of fun?
Well, we’ve made it our mission to find out. Read on to find out Vanquish’s best points and weaknesses, and see how he evaluates his rivals including the Ferrari F12 and Bentley Continental GT Supersports.
2023 Aston Martin Vanquish Performance & drive
Although Vanquish is up a bit, some changes in late 2016 mean the massive V12 is now pushing – just wait – a colossal 560bhp or 592bhp in a Vanquish S guise. That’s enough to claim 0-62mph in just 3.5 seconds, although walking around town is tame. and pulls smoothly from low revs.
However, penetrate 4000rpm with your foot welded to the floor and it develops this brutal, tougher edge, with great acceleration and a nearly lethal exhaust sound. Saying that Vanquish, like Continental Supersports, still feels a lot less terrifying than the frenetic Ferrari F12.
That also applies to handling. It doesn’t have the definite four-wheel-drive traction out of Bentley’s narrow corners, so you need to pour power gently or you risk swapping ends, but it’s not as inherently sharp or demanding to ride like the spikier, and ultimately faster, F12. That can be good and bad, depending on your particular perspective.
Steering is definitely one of Vanquish’s charms. Thanks to the sweetness of the old-fashioned steering, with the help of hydraulics (as opposed to the newer, less sensitive electronic power steering set-up) it’s really easy to place the nose of the car because you get feedback via the steering wheel to know exactly what the front tires are doing.
That said, this car has never felt so agile. Yes, the body is made of carbon fiber, making Vanquish lighter than Continental, but it’s still tough.
And while the switchable adaptive suspension is tuned to fit the slimmer body, even in the most rigid of settings, it feels considerably softer and sometimes even a tad hovering over bumpy roads, especially compared to the sharp, crouched F12.
It is quite comfortable for this type of car, which adds to the impression that Vanquish is more of a GT than an out-and-out sports car.
Softens absorbers and absorbs the impact of most road pimples very well, although it tends to get jittery on rippling roads.
Wind noise at 70mph is also muted, but you’ll have to deal with a fair amount of road noise at speed. Most of the V12 exhaust notes are part of Vanquish’s proprietary poisoning, but sometimes the resonance can be a wear mite and you find yourself wanting a little peace.
The eight-speed automatic gearbox, meanwhile, is smooth when left alone, but must be in manual mode to get the best out of the engine.
Even then the shifts are fuzzy and slow compared to the near-instant shifts of the Ferrari F12, or Continental for that matter.

2023 Aston Martin Vanquish’s dashboard might have looked really cool when it launched, but it looks really dated now. That said, you can’t argue with the richness of the ingredients inside: hardly any plastic to show off and lots of rich leather, metal, and carbon fiber.
In fact, for the perceived quality, only the thin-sounding indicator and the wiper rod detract from the luxury.
There are lots of adjustments to the standard electrically-operated seat and a good range of travel for the steering wheel.
The seats don’t offer much side support given Vanquish’s performance intentions, and they are mounted relatively high as well, so taller drivers find their heads not far from the roof lining. It should be noted that the door swings slightly upward when open, allowing it to cross height limits and other objects that are raised.
Unusually, the gearbox is controlled by a set of glass buttons on the dashboard although you get the more conventional paddle shift behind the steering wheel.
Aston has replaced many other buttons with touch-sensitive panels which don’t function properly but can take fingerprints easily.
The infotainment screen is pretty shabby by a standard £ 7k city car, so seen in context as opposed to Vanquish’s hefty price tag it’s sad. The screen is small, as are the graphics, and while we usually like the rotary controller, because it’s positioned vertically on the dashboard, it’s really interesting to use.
You get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to mirror your smartphone’s home screen through the display, and of course the Bluetooth DAB radio.
At least the stereo itself is a powerful 1000 watt system from Bang & Olufsen if you’re tired of V12 music.
2023 Aston Martin Vanquish Passenger & Boot Room
Anyone sitting upfront should find legroom fine, but if you’re way above the six-foot threshold, a relatively high-mounted chair may mean cramped headroom. Regardless of your size, Vanquish feels more compact in the more spacious Bentley Continental GT.
That statement is truer still behind; if you consider 2023 Aston Martin Vanquish due to the availability of the rear seats – something the Ferrari F12 lacks – in fact, it is only suitable for small children. On the other hand, you can fit a few adults behind the Continental GT with comparative ease.
At Vanquish, it’s better to think of the rear seats as an extension of the trunk, which in itself is decent enough to fit several bags overnight. If you’re looking for a really practical sports car, then again, Continental offers more luggage space.
